Microsuction ear wax removal outside working hours
Microsuction is one of the safest ways to remove ear wax. The audiologist looks into your ear with magnification and a bright light, and uses gentle medical suction to clear the wax, usually without water. Because usually no water is used, there is less risk of infection than with syringing or irrigation. If there is a clinical need, for example if the wax is too wet, we can also use water.
Please use olive oil drops for a few days before your appointment: softened wax is easier to remove. If you have been using Otex or other wax drops, check the label: if they contain hydrogen peroxide, stop and change to olive oil, because hydrogen peroxide tends to make the wax wet, and wet wax is not ideal for microsuction. Oil-based drops are fine.
Evening and weekend appointments are the same appointment as during the day, at the same price. We aim to clear both ears safely in a single visit.

Are you open in the evenings and at weekends?
Yes. Our Edgware clinic at 96 Edgware Way is open until 9pm Monday to Thursday, and from 9am to 9pm on Sundays. On Fridays we close at 3:15pm and we are closed on Saturdays. You can see the available times and book online, or call us on 020 8168 0188.
How much does evening or weekend ear wax removal cost?
The same as any other time: £60 per appointment, and we will not charge more for both ears.
